DEPRESSION

Depression can be described in several ways and is different from normal feelings, associated with the loss of a person, a job, and a beloved pet, as examples The American Psychological Association (APA) defines Depression in the following way:

“Depression is extreme sadness or despair that lasts more than days. It interferes with daily life activities and can cause physical symptoms such as pain, weight loss or gain, sleeping pattern disruptions, or lack of energy”. Other symptoms of Depression may include lowered mood, trouble concentrating, a lack of motivation, fatigue, exhaustion, low self-esteem, shame, and guilt, amongst others.
