WHAT WE OFFER

We are experts in addiction, recovery, and transformation. We will work alongside you on a deep exploration and strengthening of self-awareness, self-esteem, self-worth, personal-values, and the development of a meaningful and purpose filled life.

Addiction takes on many forms including, substance use, gambling, sex, technology and work. The American Psychological Association (APA) provides the following definition of substance addiction and abuse, however many other addictions fit the same pattern.

Substance abuse is a pattern of compulsive substance use marked by recurrent significant social, occupational, legal, or interpersonal adverse consequences, such as repeated absences from work or school, arrests, and marital difficulties.

“Addiction is a state of psychological or physical dependence (or both) on the use of alcohol or other drugs. The term is often used as an equivalent term for substance dependence and sometimes applied to behavioral disorders, such as sexual, internet, and gambling addictions”. Adapted from APA Dictionary of Psychology Sourced from https://www.apa.org/

Addiction is a symptom, if the symptom alone is treated, and the underlying factors are not addressed, the risk of lapse and eventual relapse remains.

Addiction affects not only the person suffering from the addiction itself, but also family members, friends, and colleagues. As such we offer individual therapy to all who are impacted by addiction.

We offer a whole of family approach, that is we can work with the individual person who is suffering addiction, and / or impacted family members. Family members and friends can experience confusion, anger, frustration, hurt and helpless when confronted by a loved one’s addiction. Often not knowing what to do results in attempts at rescuing the addict, counter intuitively this can result in greater harm. Contact us to discuss options for you and your loved ones when addiction takes hold.

Our focus when working with clients who suffer from addiction is holistic, that is we treat the entire person, including their physical, mental, and spiritual selves.

A commonly used expression in the field of addiction is that the opposite to addiction is connection.

Our approach to working with clients includes a compassionate exploration and supportive approach in working toward a deeper and meaningful connection to self. This involves a deep exploration and strengthening of self-awareness, self-esteem, self-worth, personal-values, and the development of a meaningful and purpose filled life.

Further connection to supportive others and connection to something larger than the individual themselves often emerges from the improved connection to self and fortifies the individual to a life free from addiction.

Recovery from addiction requires courage, honesty with self and others, an open approach to considering a new way of life and a willingness to adopt a new way of being.

Recovery requires courage, hope and faith in a better life free from the ravages of the disease.
