FOR MEN WHO WANT TO BE STRONG, OPEN-HEARTED & WHOLE
Traditionally, men have been encouraged to believe that true masculinity is defined by toughness and an absence of vulnerability.
The tougher you are, the more of a “real man” you become. But under that old script, you were forced to deny half of your own humanity:
Toughen up.
Hide your feelings.
Swallow your needs.
Be invulnerable.
Be ‘Mr Fix It’.
But that is a recipe for loneliness. For failed relationships. For health issues.
And if we swing too far in the other direction – to always be soft and sensitive – we’re still denying half of ourselves.
What you need is to be whole:
a strong, sexy, brilliant,
big-hearted, loving man.
And you can be –
you just need to learn how…
AN 8 WEEK MEN’S GROUP
Are you ready to stop passing on the pain and become the partner, father, and man you can truly be proud of?
In 8 weeks, you can change your life and your legacy for good.
There are only 12 spaces available per group which give us time to dig deep, heal, and transform from the inside outside.
In-person groups commencing March & August 2026
On-line groups commencing May & October 2026
WHAT IS THE GROUP ABOUT?
This 8-week group will challenge what you’ve been taught about being a “good man” and what a modern and healthy expression of masculinity means to you.
Together we will challenge any outdated beliefs that get in the way of building a fuller, stronger, truer, more connected version of yourself.
Your relationships with others matter. The group also will help you open your heart while retaining your strength to build richer, more fulfilling relationships.
BENEFITS

WHO IS THIS FOR?
Men of all ages, backgrounds, and professions who want to step up and become models of a new masculinity – one that’s strong when needed, sensitive when needed. One that’s whole. Maybe you’re…
- A husband stuck in the same arguments
- A young man trying to find your way in a world that makes zero sense.
- A father who wants to connect with his children & stop passing on the pain.
- A man who’s tired of living cut off from real connection.
- A man who’s single and wants to create a relationship where he can show up as the best version of himself and meet the needs of his future partner.
- A man who has been taught to push down his feelings
- A man who knows his behaviour as a partner or father is not working and doesn’t know what to do.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
- Challenging outdated beliefs and showing you how to build a fuller, more connected version of yourself.
- Why traditional masculine ideals have made so many men lonely, numb, or angry.
- How to connect with yourself and what real self-esteem is and how to show up with strength & integrity.
- How to be adaptable in your world: gentle & warm when it’s called for and tough when it’s called for.
- How to stand your ground and be assertive, without coming across as dominating.
- What intimacy really is – and the skills and practise to do it better.

This is very intentional on our part; we believe it makes our group different from men’s groups. We are committed to showing up as two whole and equal human beings relating respectfully. This is one the core values of The Courageous Man.
We are pro-man, pro-woman, pro-fathers & mothers, pro-respect, and pro-equality.
By ‘walking our talk’ in the group, we hope to offer you an example of how two whole individuals relate in a respectful way. What we intend to model applies to all kinds of relationships – intimate, parent-child relationship, co-parenting, and professional relationships – as is the case for Jon and Helen.
Having two facilitators also means you get an added bonus of two different people’s perspectives and expertise.
Jon and Helen are two highly experienced and qualified men’s group facilitators. We both also have extensive personal experience being members of groups as part of our healing and growth journeys.
Helen brings over seven years of experience as a Men’s Behaviour Change group facilitator. She has completed a ‘Graduate Certificate in Men’s Behaviour Change – Individual and Group-work Interventions through NSW Health. She is also a trained and experienced group facilitator of the Caring Dad’s group program developed in Canada. She has also trained in the Gestalt psychotherapeutic approach to groups, emphasising working in the ‘here and now’. In addition, Helen has completed training in “Yalom Group Psychotherapy: Leadership and Facilitation skills”.
Jon has been facilitating groups for the past six years that include Men’s Behaviour Change, Engage, and psychoeducational programs, and has received extensive training in motivational interviewing, behavioural change strategies, and groupwork-specific techniques. The various programs that Jon has delivered include a broad range of topics, such as: Addiction and Recovery and Other Dependencies, Family Systems, Emotions, Anger, Conflict Resolution, Resentments, Stress Management, Managing Sadness, Depression and Loneliness, Self Esteem, Relationships, Shame and Guilt, and Self-Awareness.
No, it’s not an official RLT group nor is it endorsed by the RLT Institute. It is informed and inspired by the RLT model and the men’s coaching program created by Terry Real. Helen holds certification as an RLT Couple’s Therapist and RLT Bootcamp Facilitator.

No, not usually, however if you really want to join a group, and the cost is stopping you from doing so, please reach out and connect@thecouraegousman.com.au
No, we do not offer any rebates, and we do not bulk bill.
No. What men share is personal and private so will not record the zoom group sessions.
Confidentiality is vital to ensure the group is safe and you can share whatever you want. All group members must commit to never discussing what another group member has said. You can talk about your personal experience being in the group to friends & partners but never talk about what another man has shared. We discuss this in more detail when the group first meets.
As professionals, we offer complete confidentiality except in the following instances:
• If we believe you are at serious risk of harming yourself or others. We would only do this in imminent circumstances, and we will try and discuss it with you first.
• Like all mental health professionals, we are mandatory reporters under NSW child protection law, which means that in a case where a child is at risk, we must report to the relevant authorities.
• We may sometimes discuss client work with a clinical supervisor. The same code of ethics and confidentiality binds our supervisors.
• Absolute confidentiality cannot be guaranteed in a group context, and participants acknowledge shared responsibility for maintaining confidentiality.
We do not keep case notes from the group.
Full payment is required upfront.
We offer a 100% money-back guarantee if, for whatever reason you’re not completely satisfied within 48 hours of your first group and we’ll issue you a full refund, no questions asked.
After this 48-hour period, expect that no refunds will be offered.
If you miss a group – you still pay.
As facilitators, we will never force you to share anything. We also understand it may take being in the group a while before you feel comfortable sharing – this is normal.
That being said, the more you have the courage to share in the group, the more you’ll
get out of it. There will be small break-out groups which you may feel more comfortable sharing, especially in the first few weeks.
We will support you along the way.
Yes. At The Courageous Man we welcome people of all genders and sexual orientations into our groups.
Self-awareness and relational skills are self-awareness & relational skills regardless of gender & sexual orientations.
Yes — relational skills are relational skills. This group is for men who want to grow, heal, and build better, healthier relationships in every area of life whether that’s with yourself, your friends, family, or coworkers.
If you’re single, dating, and looking to enjoy more fulfilling and connected relationships, these skills will 100% be beneficial.
The two in-person groups will meet at The Courageous Man Space overlooking Terrigal Beach: Suite 1, 58 Terrigal Esplanade, Terrigal Beach
Terrigal Beach is about an hours’ drive from northern suburbs of Sydney, and 90 minutes from the Sydney CBD. It is just over an hour’s drive from Newcastle.
It’s important you commit to showing up each week. This is not a passive program – the transformation comes through doing the exercises, reflecting on the between-session activities and being part of the group process in real-time.
That being said, we know life can happen. If you miss a session, we ask you to let us and the group know.
